Nicole values her independence and being able to live a normal life. She is an experienced high school teacher and loves helping kids learn. She has been a cancer survivor for the last 14 years. She had a very rare form of cancer that affected majority of her abdominal cavity. Although she survived her cancer, multiple surgeries left her with a very short gut.
Nicole is dependent on getting majority of her nutrition intravenously. Because her gut is very short, it could not absorb enough nutrition to sustain her daily needs.
Nicole receives home parenteral nutrition intravenously every evening so she can maintain her daytime schedule. In addition, she loves to travel and recently took a trip to Mexico to swim with dolphins - at RHI we were proud to support her in achieving her dream of traveling internationally. Today, Nicole relies on RHI to help her maintain her health and independence, so that she can live life to the fullest.
